Endeavour’s male stars Shaun Evans, Roger Allam and Anton Lesser draw a big response from RT readers, but perhaps one of the less celebrated actors in the cast is Abigail Thaw, who plays newspaper editor Dorothea Frazil. With filming starting soon on series seven of Endeavour, we asked her about her role:
“I love Dorothea, she’s the complete antithesis to me! She seems incredibly self-sufficient, stoic and unemotional. And she’s a loner. She doesn’t have family. So she and Morse kind of know each other. They just have an innate understanding of each other’s loneliness.”
Abigail was thrilled to be offered the role in 2011, as Endeavour focuses on the early career of the detective made famous by her father, who died in 2002. “It feels extremely honourable to do, and as the years have gone by I still feel that. I’m immensely proud that the character of Morse still holds an interest for people.”
So here’s your chance to see Abigail in action. One lucky winner will receive a box set of series 1–6 of Endeavour and four runners-up will win a DVD of series 6, courtesy of ITV Studios Home Entertainment.
