Before EastEnders, Riley Carter Millington was a drama student in Stretford, near Old Trafford.
Prior to landing the part of Kyle Slater in 2015, 21-year-old Millington’s acting work was limited to plays put up by his school, the Eccles Sixth Form Centre.
He is the first trans man on British soaps to play a regular transgender role. This milestone led to The Independent on Sunday naming him the most influential LGBTI person in the UK, placing him on top of their Rainbow List 2015—the first trans man to ever achieve that distinction.
Kyle Slater made his first appearance during Halloween 2015. Born Sarah, he had a sex change after an assault left him hospitalised.
His father was Brian Slater, also the father of Stacey Branning. But his family did not know about Stacey until after Brian’s death—after which Kyle showed up in Walford, seeking her out.
