New Star Wars: Episode VII set pic shows surprise for Adam Driver’s character
It looks like the Girls star might be a little less evil than first thought
So word’s been going round for a while that Girls’ Adam Driver is set to play a Darth Vader-style villain in the new JJ Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII.
But if you couldn’t wait to see the Inside Llewyn Davis and Frances Ha actor working a black cape and force-choking the life from some worthless rebel scum, then a new picture from the set might leave you confused, angry and hastily cancelling cosplay materials from Amazon.
Be aware, spoilers may lurk below…
Seriously, turn away now if you want to discover a film’s secrets through the narrative as intended by the creators (like some kind of luddite).
Ok, if you’re sure…

Yup, that stylish orange jumpsuit Driver’s wearing is the uniform of an X-Wing pilot, of the type Luke Skywalker and his rebel pals wore when he blew up his dad’s big floating house in Star Wars: Episode IV (and later films in the series). See?
He’s certainly dressed like a good guy. So has Driver turned away from the dark side of the force? Has baseless internet speculation been – think of it – inaccurate? Not necessarily.
Maybe Driver’s character is more like a young Darth aka Anakin Skywalker, turned to the dark side by circumstance and personal loss over the course of the film? Or maybe he’s a Sith in sheep’s clothing, infiltrating his enemies only to strike back later on?
If anything, all this apparent contradiction gives us is a greater chance for yet more baseless speculation. Thank goodness.
Star Wars: Episode VII stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega and Adam Driver, and is due to be released in December 2015
