Who does he play?

One of the Coal Hill gang and the school’s football star. “My character’s a cool, loving, caring young man who’s very driven, very passionate and always wants to be the best at everything,” says Elsayed.

Where have I seen him before?

As well as having small roles in Citizen Khan, Casualty and Silent Witness, Elsayed has starred as Mo in gritty drama My Brother the Devil. He also played Wino in Brotherhood alongside Noel Clarke (Doctor Who’s Mickey Smith), and appeared in an episode of Law & Order: UK (see above).

Sophie Hopkins – April

Who does she play?

“April, in every bit of her being, wants to do good and help others,” says Hopkins. “She’s really strong and she’s wise before her years, I think. And she’s a bit of a mother hen – always trying to keep everyone together, maybe even before herself.”

Where have I seen her before?

She’s a relatively new face on TV, having only appeared in small TV documentaries like Dark Matters: Twisted But True. However, she’s featured in several short films, including this year’s Since We Last.

Vivian Oparah – Tanya

Who does she play?

She’s the bright spark younger than the rest of the core Class group. Three years younger, in fact. But despite only being 14, Tanya been moved into sixth form (yup, she’s the brainy one).

“She’s always identified as either the younger sibling in her family or she’s identified as the girl who got moved up a couple of years,” says Oparah.  “But because she has such a strong sense of self it angers her that’s she’s always being put into a box or categorised.”

Where have I seen her before?

Unless you’ve passed her on the street, it’s likely you haven’t seen Oparah’s face before Class – Class marks her first screen appearance.

Jordan Renzo – Matteusz

Who does he play?

Charlie’s Polish boyfriend, also a student at Coal Hill.

Before Class it’s unlikely you’ve seen him before. He had a minor role in Second World War film Chosen and starred in short drama Ella last year. Nope, us neither.
