There are several callbacks to The National Anthem, the first ever Black Mirror episode where Prime Minister Michael Callow (Rory Kinnear) has to have sex with a pig live on TV.
Firstly, when Lacie is scrolling through her social feed, there’s an update from Callow saying “Just got thrown out of the zoo again :(“. We’re guessing the zookeepers saw the PM pork show…
Oh, and remember when Lacie hitches a ride with a few fans of show Sea of Tranquility? That’s a programme mentioned in The Nation Anthem. The special effects expert called in to the pig, urm, broadcast says he’s worked on an “HBO moon western” called Sea of Tranquility.
