After much speculation, it’s been confirmed that Peter Andre is indeed one of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing contestants. This is where we should probably say something about it being Insania on the dance floor…

Anyway, the singer-cum-reality star joins a host of other celebrities including Carol Kirkwood, Jeremy Vine, Ainsley Harriott, Kellie Bright, Georgia May Foote and Katie Derham who will be heading to the Strictly ballroom this September, where they’ll be partnered up with one of this year’s pro dancers to learn some fancy footwork.

"Strictly Come Dancing is an incredible show. I’ve always loved watching it on TV and to be honest I’m flattered to have been asked to take part before, but due to certain work commitments was unable to. I now feel the time is right to give it a go - everything has just clicked into place to do it this year. Wish me luck please…argh!!” Andre said.

Returning pro Ola Jordan has made no secret of the fact that she’d like to be partnered with Andre, telling Now magazine she’s been hoping he’d be on the show “for years”.

Although, before he gets to the business of learning the dance moves it seems Mr Andre may take some convincing to get into the snug outfits, having previously admitted they were a turn off.

"I could not see myself wearing the spandex," he told The Sun. "I could do everything else, except for those tight trousers."

Let’s see what the wardrobe department has to say about that, eh?

Strictly won’t be Andre’s first taste of reality TV. In 2004 he took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! (and has guest-appeared on the show since) placing third behind Jennie Bond and champion Kerry Katona. Andre has also participated in various fly-on-the-wall series including ITV2's Katie & Peter series with his ex-wife Katie Price.
