The music world is reacting to news of the death of former Beatles producer Sir George Martin.
Ringo Starr led the tributes to the man known as ‘the fifth Beatle’ on Twitter, thanking him “for all your love and kindness.”
Paul McCartney wrote a touching tribute on his website, calling him “a true gentleman and like a second father to me.”
“He guided the career of The Beatles with such skill and good humour that he became a true friend to me and my family. If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George. From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.”

John Lennon’s son Sean posted a picture of the man who first signed his father and the rest of The Beatles, and helped guide them to global success.
Fellow producer Brian Eno also posted his own message of condolence.

Bond actor Sir Roger Moore thanked him for ‘making my first Bond film sound brilliant’. Martin produced the theme for Live and Let Die with Paul McCartney and Wings, as well as Goldfinger with Shirley Bassey in 1964.
How very sad to wake to the news Sir George Martin has left us. He made my first Bond film sound brilliant!

Meanwhile Take That singer Gary Barlow appeared on Chris Evans’s Radio 2 show, saying, “We’re all still copying his work.”
But the final word goes to his son, Giles Martin.
RIP dad. I love you. I'm so proud to have been your son. I'll miss you more than words can say. Thank you for the all times we had together.
