The Yule Cat, Iceland

Cats are the darlings of the internet – but don’t got seeking them out on Christmas Eve in Iceland.
The Christmas Cat – or Jólakötturinn – is a giant cat that will eat any children who aren’t given a new item of clothing for Christmas. Better get knitting that scarf sharpish…
Some versions of the story are a little less scary – the cat only eats the Christmas dinner of the poor clothe-less kids – but either way, it definitely makes a new pair of socks seem much less naff.
