Chris Rock confirmed to host 2016 Oscars

The actor and comedian last hosted Hollywood's biggest night in 2005

Chris Rock has confirmed that he will indeed be hosting next year’s Oscars ceremony, 11 years after his first – brilliant? controversial? – performance.

In 2005 the targets of his biting opening monologue included George Bush, the Iraq War… and Jude Law.

“Who is Jude Law?” Rock said. “Why is he in every movie I have seen in the last four years? Even if he’s not acting in it, if you look at the credits he makes the cupcakes or something.”

Sean Penn felt compelled to stand up for Law later in the night.

Will Rock be as divisive this time round? We’ll find out on 28th February 2016…
