Blinkbox lets customers try before they buy with free pilots

The on-demand service is letting customers watch as many first episodes of series such I'm Alan Partridge, True Blood and The Wire for one month

Quite like to see what all the Alan Partridge fuss is about? Think you might enjoy The Wire? Perhaps you think those bloodthirsty types in True Blood could be your cup of tea… But you’re just not sure?

Well, Blinkbox is giving you indecisive telly-watchers a hand by letting you try out the pilot episodes of some of their classic series for free.

The Tesco-owned streaming service is offering viewers the chance to sample as many first episodes of series as they like between now and 19 August, before they decide whether or not to buy the full series. Handy, eh?

Blinkbox’s CEO Michael Comish said: “There’s more choice than ever before thanks to services like ours and our insights told us that customers relished the opportunity to try TV before committing to purchase. After all, life’s too short to watch something that you’re just not into.” Hear, hear.

The shows on offer include American Horror Story, Entourage, I’m Alan Partridge, Modern Family, The Americans, The Big Bang Theory, The Following, The Newsroom, The West Wing, The Wire, Touch, True Blood and Veep. A full list can be found on its website.
