Acclaimed hacker drama Mr Robot to make UK TV debut

The US series starring Christian Slater and Rami Malek will air in July on Universal channel

Mr Robot is making its UK TV debut. The hit US drama – currently only available in this country on Amazon Instant Video – will air on Universal Channel, starting on Thursday 21st July.

The series stars Rami Malek as Elliot – computer programmer for a cyber security firm by day, vigilante hacker by night. Events take a dramatic turn when he is recruited by the eponymous Mr Robot (Christian Slater) to join an underground hacking group hell bent on bringing down the multinational organisation Elliot’s company is paid to protect. Will he stay loyal to his day job or join the gang in taking on the establishment?

Co-starring Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallstrom, the series has enjoyed a buzz in the States where it airs on the USA Network, picking up two Golden Globes earlier this year, plus gongs at the Critics Choice Awards and the Writers Guild Awards.

Mr Robot will begin airing on Universal with two back-to-back episodes, uninterrupted by ad breaks, with the rest of the series playing out in single bills every Thursday. Universal is available on Sky Channel 113, Virgin Media Channel 137, TalkTalk Player BT TV Channel 420.
