The Wire creator takes a long hard look at American race relations in new series

Watch the trailer for David Simon's new miniseries Show Me a Hero, set to air on Sky Atlantic on 17th August

The Wire creator David Simon has moved from Baltimore to (near) the Bronx in his new mini series Show Me A Hero.

The brand new miniseries, set in 80s New York state, stars Oscar Isaac as Nick Wasicsko, a young local politician running to be mayor in an area ripped apart by racial tension and a public housing crisis.

The supporting cast is suitably heavyweight, with Alfred Molina, Winona Ryder, Catherine Keener and The Wire alumnus Clarke Peters all set to appear in the six-part drama.

Directed by Crash’s Paul Haggis and adapted from a non-fiction book of the same name, the series will air on 16th August on HBO in the US, and a day later on Sky Atlantic here in the UK.
