The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi: “My ideal role would be the female Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad”
The Bafta nominee for International drama talks diversity, great UK drama and living in the States
How much TV do you watch?
I live between here and New York but love British dramas like Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax. They are raw and real and I can escape into them.
Do they watch British drama in the US?
I went for a big meeting with somebody in LA and she asked me what my ideal role would be. I said the female Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad and she told me to watch Happy Valley.
Why are British actors so popular there?
Because we are so grateful! I don’t blame American actors for resenting us!
Are there more roles for Asian actors in the US?
TV series with a lead from a diverse background are far more common. Here we still need more people from diverse backgrounds at a higher executive level.
Audience award favourite?
The Missing.
