Homeland series four – the internet reacts
From tears over missing Brody to gleeful glimpses of Merlin's Bradley James, here's how the Twittersphere reacted to last night's Homeland premiere
Homeland returned to our TV screens last night with the series four opener. And fans of the hit CIA thriller were awaiting it with more anticipation than usual. The big question? How will Homeland continue without Brody, who was killed off at the end of series three?
A fair few people, in fact, were just refusing to find out:
I refuse to watch #Homeland after Season 2 #hasbeen

This is the time I'd usually say "We're all watching #Homeland, right?" but after the last season I'm not sure we all will be…

Though clearly Homeland still has its fair share of loyal followers…
My Sunday evenings just got better. #Homeland

Good to see Carrie Matheson back on track! #Homeland

Some tweeters in fact were rather taken with the new series:
#Homeland just keeps getting better and better OMFG & I have to wait another week till the next one OMG #whatamigoingtodo @SHO_Homeland

Tense, enthralled & somewhat sorrowful at the mirror to reality. I'll be on tenterhooks till the next time. #Homeland is definitely back…

Enjoying the new additions to the cast…
Face palm: I knew I recognized that actor in #Homeland. He's the star in Life of Pi. Excellent choice!

Still recovering from the mental effort of identifying King Arthur off of Merlin as 'Bomber Pilot with a Conscience 1' in #Homeland

Especially Corey Stoll and that shocking storyline
#Homeland was insanely good last night! Loved Corey Stoll's epicness. Brody who?..
— Sarah Allen (@SarahJAllen11) October 13, 2014
Oh dear, #Sandy is trapped.#Homeland
— Andy Gibson (@AndyGibsonTV) October 12, 2014
what if Sandy's source is the original mole in #Homeland?

For some, though, a world without Brody was just too much to bear…
Nick Brody's dead. There is no reason for Homeland to continue as a show.
— Kill The Konfederacy (@GreatDestroyer_) October 13, 2014
Why do I feel like Brody is actually alive? #homeland
— Mara Denton (@mara_denton) October 13, 2014
Just realized his name was removed from this season's opening credits. Brody is truly gone 😞😢#Homeland
— Family Chairman (@Nicanor254) October 13, 2014
OMG, will people shut up about Brody? He's dead. DEAD dead. This isn't Days of our Lives. #Homeland

Others felt that Homeland had well and truly lost its spark:
That was one boring episode of #Homeland. It really needs to catch some vigor in the first few episodes of a new season. @SHO_Homeland
— Vaibhav Bajaj (@vaibhavbajaj) October 13, 2014
#Homeland felt very flat for me yesterday. It's too distant from its original premise. Might knock this one on the head.
