Downton Abbey fans can see series 5 premiere at the cinema before everyone else

Tickets are available to see the hit period drama at a charity screening before it airs on ITV

Yes, you read that correctly. You don’t have to wait until the first episode of Downton Abbey series 5 airs on ITV to find out what’s going on with Bates and Anna, Lady Edith’s love child and Lady Mary’s many suitors. Or watch it on your tiny telly set, come to that.

Downton Abbey fans will get a chance to see the first episode of the hit period drama as it premieres on the big screen at a charity cinema showing courtesy of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.

In a fashion we’re sure the Dowager Countess would approve of, the event will see red carpet arrivals and champagne as well as a Q&A with cast and creators, including Julian Fellowes, Gareth Neame and Jim Carter.

The cinema screening will take place on 17 September in London’s Leicester Square. Tickets for the charity event cost £75. Find out more here
