The votes have been counted and the results are in... here's our critics' countdown of the year's best telly

29. Fresh Meat (C4)

Peep Show creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong’s OTHER show about terrible people forced to live together came to an end this year, with the student sitcom’s increasingly in-demand cast (including Charlotte Ritchie, Jack Whitehall, Zawe Ashton and Kimberley Nixon) corralled together one last time to get drunk, fail exams and fruitlessly search for a career. As usual, these six episodes were wince-inducingly familiar for anyone who’s every sat through a terrible job interview, thrown a half-arsed party or embarked on an ill-advised relationship, touched with moments of real pathos as the gang said one final farewell to their student home. And unlike Peep Show’s somewhat open ending, this really did feel like goodbye. Huw Fullerton
