Dave Gorman has signed up to make a new comedy series for UKTV’s digital channel Dave called Modern Life is Goodish.
Described as “a stand-up show (of sorts),” the series picks up where his last live show, Powerpoint Presentation, left off.
“I guess a lot of the material in that show was gleaned from looking a little closer at the information (and misinformation) that we normally allow to float past our eyes unchallenged,” Gorman wrote on his blog.
“But a lot of the material also comes from reacting to it from playing with it, experimenting and generally being a bit mischievous… and that spirit will definitely inform this series too.”
Modern Life is Goodish will run for six hour-long episodes, which Gorman says will let him “really get my teeth into things.”
Filming on the series is due to begin in London in May, and you can apply for free tickets to the tapings here.
“Continuing our drive for distinctive content, this is a wonderfully innovative comedy format that takes the best of Dave Gorman’s brilliant stand up and adds additional layers that will really bring it to life for TV”, said Dave’s Senior Commissioning Editor Richard Watsham.
“I’m very excited that more people will get to see just how good Dave is.”
Gorman, who found fame in 2001 after his stage show Are You Dave Gorman? was turned into a TV series, was most recently seen on the small screen in 2010 as the host of BBC2’s comedy quiz show Genius.
