David Tennant to host panel show Comedy World Cup on Channel 4

The former Doctor Who star will front the series in which stand-up comedians battle for survival

David Tennant will attempt to maintain order among a group of stand-up comedians as he takes on the role of host in new Channel 4 series Comedy World Cup.


Announced today as part of a number of new commissions by the channel, the seven-part series will see teams of comics using their skills to avoid being knocked out of the competition.


Meanwhile, Doctor Who fans are hoping Tennant will be making a return to the series for its 50th anniversary next year. Showrunner Steven Moffat is planning various special events and Tennant is among former Time Lords rumoured to be involved.
