Live Snooker: The World Championship: 2021 Day One: Evening Session
As sport seeks to return to normality, the news that it’s hoped the final of the World Snooker Championship will be played in front of a capacity audience at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield is a heartening step. The venue will operate at 33 per cent capacity for the first round – starting today – before increasing to 50 per cent for the second round, and 75 per cent for the quarter-finals and semis.
With Stephen Hendry beating Jimmy White in the first round of qualifying, before himself losing in the second, representing the old guard in 2021 is Ronnie O’Sullivan – back to defend the title he won in 2020, his sixth.
