Episode 19: The Closet Reconfiguration

Summary

Bernadette and Howard host a dinner party, but as it falls on Sheldon's Thai food night, he opts to bring his own dinner. As punishment for his lack of manners, the gang decides he should organise Wolowitz's cluttered wardrobe, but he discovers an unopened letter from Howard's father, who hasn't made contact in years.

Review

“Oh, five more minutes,” pleads Sheldon. He’s not being interrupted from Battlestar Galactica, or refining a new theory on string-network condensates; he’s organising Howard’s closet. It’s a simple but effective premise because it highlights another Sheldon talent (“Did you want your clothes arranged seasonally or by colour?”), while broaching an emotive side-story about abandonment issues. In mid-tidy he finds an unopened letter sent to Howard on his 18th birthday by his father.

But the beauty of this Friends-with- syndromes is that it always squelches mawkishness with gags about The Goonies or Sheldon optimising the cheese aisle of a supermarket.
