Episode 16: The Tangible Affection Proof

Summary

Leonard and Penny celebrate Valentine's Day, but their evening takes a turn for the worse when the latter's ex-boyfriend proposes to his girlfriend in the same restaurant. Meanwhile, Sheldon enlists the help of his assistant Alex to find the perfect gift for Amy.

Review

It’s Valentine’s Day in the gloriously geeky universe of the scientists. Naturally, there are no bouquets of roses or boxes of chocolates: Howard inscribes his and Bernadette’s initials in a heart that’s one-thousandth of the size of a grain of sand (a micro-Valentine for a micro-biologist); and Amy is to receive a signed print by the father of modern neuroscience — until Sheldon decides to keep it for himself.

The Big Bang Theory is a comfort blanket of a comedy and tonight’s episode doesn’t disappoint, although nobody’s date goes quite to plan. Even Sheldon goes all gooey, for at least a few seconds.
