Episode 21: The Closure Alternative

Summary

Amy tries to help Sheldon get over his desire for closure when one of his favourite TV shows is cancelled on a cliffhanger ending. Raj discovers his new girlfriend Lucy has a blog in which she has written about him, and is upset when he learns she believes he has feminine qualities, causing him to worry about their relationship.

Review

A great episode for Kaley Cuoco as Penny, who grounds all the sci-fi diversions with earthy brio. She thinks she doesn’t share the others’ passion for things – Leonard’s love of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, for instance – but there’s a surprising conclusion.

In other geekery, eternally tolerant Amy is convinced Sheldon has a pathological need for closure – and proves it with a series of cunning (cruel) experiments. Raj, meanwhile, tries to prove to his new lady, Lucy, that he’s not really effeminate. But is King of Creep Howard the right mentor on matters of the heart?
