"Ashes to Ashes" is a BBC fantasy drama sequel to "Life on Mars". It tells the story of Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes), a tough, thoroughly modern police psychologist who is shot in 2008 and awakes in 1981: the year of Charles and Diana's wedding, the Brixton riots and Bucks Fizz winning the Eurovision Song Contest. Upon waking, Alex finds herself working with "Life on Mars" characters DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister), DS Ray Carling (Dean Andrews) and DC Chris Skelton (Marshall Lancaster). During the series, Chris enters into a relationship with fellow officer Sharon Granger (Montserrat Lombard). Before Alex was shot, she had been driving her daughter Molly to school and is desperate to find her way back to her in 2008. It premiered on BBC One in 2008 and ran for three series.
