Episode 17: Unwrapped

Summary

Jo and Lindsay investigate the murder of a successful Brooklyn-born businessman, and discover he insisted on maintaining connections with the housing project where he was raised. His wife's statement contains inconsistencies, raising suspicions about her private life - but as events unfold, it becomes clear that neighbourhood drug dealers are involved. Crime drama, starring Gary Sinise, Sela Ward and Anna Belknap.

Review

Poor accountants, they get a rough ride. If a character in a TV drama is an accountant, they’re rarely painted as a fountain of charisma and joy. Finally, CSI: NY explodes the stereotype with a victim whom everyone agrees was “the nicest dude on the block”, a loved and admired figure in his Brooklyn neighbourhood. Despite being so revered, the heroic bean-counter is gunned down in the lobby of his sister-in-law’s apartment block, leaving only blood-spatter and discarded birthday gifts.

From there, we get a more-involving-than-usual case, from which Flack manages to draw a hilariously crude moral. Meanwhile, Mac and his girlfriend are more lovey-dovey than ever. The series finale is coming up, and I don’t like where this is heading.
