Episode 4: Officer Involved

Summary

Danny gets into an altercation that leads to a brawl when he is out drinking with some of his team-mates. He is knocked unconscious, and comes round to find an undercover officer has shot his assailant dead, claiming the man had a gun. As he begins to doubt his leadership abilities, his career is put at risk when evidence suggests he lied about the facts of the case. Crime drama, starring Carmine Giovinazzo.

Review

After a night out drinking with his new colleagues, Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) regains consciousness lying in the street outside a bar. He’s bleeding from a gash on the head, while rookie officer Lauren Cooper is kneeling over an unarmed dead man with Danny’s personal firearm in her hand.

“Hmm, no witnesses, no gun, just four off-duty cops and a dead civilian,” is Mac’s grim summary of the situation, which sees the recently promoted detective isolated by his less-than-supportive team when he’s investigated by Internal Affairs.

Wife Lindsay behaves impeccably, throughout. You’ll lose count of how often she walks off the job, citing conflict of interest — before we reach the somewhat predictable conclusion.
