Episode 1: Indelible

Summary

The 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks arrives, prompting the forensic investigators to recall what they were each doing on the day. Meanwhile, Mac is still on leave, and Jo has been placed in charge of the team investigating the murder of a bouncer who was shot when two men robbed the bar he was working at. Crime drama, starring Gary Sinise and Sela Ward.

Review

If there’s been a more poignant CSI: NY, I’ve not seen it. Save for a subplot about a murder in a bar that’s investigated and solved in the blink of an eye, forensics take a back seat. Instead it’s all about 9/11 and how the CSIs remember, and were affected by, the events of that day.

Using evocative flashbacks to reveal each person’s story, it ends with Mac making a dedication speech at the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance, a storyline that’s rooted in reality because the Gary Sinise Foundation helped raise money to build the actual wall honouring the first responders who died on 9/11.
