Episode 1: Great British Home Restoration

Summary

Charlie Luxton meets families transforming unusual and historic buildings into dream homes, beginning with a couple who bought a a Grade II listed church in Yorkshire.

Review

Our appetite for home renovation series – especially those where the buildings are unusual – shows no signs of being satisfied. Here architect Charlie Luxton starts a new series seeing how people are transforming historic buildings into dream homes.

He starts with a couple who’re converting a Grade II listed Yorkshire church into what they hope will be a heavenly home. Getting planning permission to alter any building is tough enough but when it’s listed, the owners must get consent for every internal reconfiguration and even small external changes.
