Episode 1: Chadwick Boseman: Off Camera

Director and photographer Sam Jones returns with more conversations with film and TV's most famous faces, beginning with Chadwick Boseman. In an interview recorded a few years before his death, the Black Panther star discusses his career, detailing the painful high-school experience that prompted him to write his first play.

The death of US actor Chadwick Boseman came as a horrible shock last year, both for young fans who’d idolised him playing Marvel superhero Black Panther and the older cinemagoers who’d first seen his work in biopic films like 42, Get on Up and Marshall.

And you’d have to have a heart of stone not to feel a pang during this in-depth interview with Boseman (originally recorded in 2017), which sees him delve into his creative processes with host Sam Jones. Thoughtful, light-hearted and down to earth… it’s a glimpse at the inner life of a talent taken far, far too soon – and with a thwarted future of great performances that we’ll never get to see.
