Episode 3: Bake Off: The Professionals

Summary

Tom Allen and Liam Charles present as the pastry chefs take part in chocolate week. First they must combine chocolate and one of Benoit Blin's favourite ingredients, without any recipes to hand. Then the chefs are challenged to create mechanical chocolate showpieces, along with 48 bon bons that include a moving part, inspired by robots.

Review

Well, last week was smashing, wasn’t it? Have you ever seen a showpiece crash to the ground so dramatically?
Nothing quite so startling this time, despite the fact the teams are creating chocolate robots with moving parts, so there’s plenty of opportunity for a malfunction. The theme also inspires some dire comedy moments from Tom Allen and Liam Charles.
But first, the pastry chefs tackle the secret recipe challenge, which is a chocolate and pink grapefruit dessert. Benoit Blin is concerned about the number of ingredients in one confection: “There might be one person too many in the bed,” is how he puts it.
