Episode 10: Diamond + Quake + Carbon + Comms + Tower

Summary

While on an important mission to hunt down a Codex lead, Angus and the team discover Murdoc hacked their comms and has been recording them for months. They set out to Murdoc, who is working with Andrews in a plot to kill thousands and reveal each Phoenix member's most-guarded secrets.

Review

Antagonist Murdoc (David Dastmalchian) is back, sitting in a subterranean lair and wearing a black leather trench coat and gloves just to show how evil he is. He’s very much the Master to MacGyver’s Doctor and, this time, he’s somehow managed to build a huge earthquake-making machine that looks like the warp engines from Star Trek and which he intends using to cause mass destruction in Mexico City.

Naturally, the team at the Phoenix Foundation are aiming to stymie his plans but must first deal with Murdoc’s terrifying mystery associate and be subjected to the most fractious Zoom call since Jackie Weaver was told by the Handforth Parish Council chairman that she had no authority.

As well as sharing some leftfield theories about the Moon landings being staged in Montana and AI taking over the planet, Jerry also has in his possession valuable intel about Codex, the apocalyptic death cult who always seem to be one step ahead of our heroes. What he isn’t expecting, though, is to then be sent out on an undercover mission of his own...
