Episode 7: Glow Up: Britain's Next Make-Up Star

Summary

Maya Jama presents the semi-final, which sees the make-up artists create looks for the backing dancers in DJ Jonas Blue's new music video - directed by world-renowned photographer and guest judge Rankin. They must create make-up to complement different backdrops and it's a huge opportunity as their work will be viewed by millions of the DJ's fans. However, the worst two will face the penalty chairs for the creative brief, which this week is based on a guilty pleasure.

Review

“Don’t be too literal,” guest judge Rankin tells the remaining MUAs who are creating an edgy look for a Jonas Blue music video. So your heart will sink as one does something more like children’s face painting with its clouds and birds.

But at this stage of the competition, someone who’s done badly in one round can get a “ding-dong” in the next. Equally, you can be a star today and get it seriously wrong tomorrow. It’s still a massive surprise who ends up in the Face Off but then, as Rankin says, “You’re only as good as your last look”.
