Review

In 1972, a few months after Bloody Sunday in Derry, the city’s football club was disbanded — yet another casualty of the Troubles. The club’s 1984 revival, and what it achieved in the League of Ireland across the border, is a triumph against the odds that is beautifully told in this documentary from local director Guy King.

As violence returns to Belfast’s streets, a film like this offers invaluable insight into Northern Irish history and what it means for people to coalesce around a cause that can completely change outsiders’ perception of their community.
