Review

Life is moving on for the Owens as this captivating series returns. Sun bathes the Yorkshire Dales when shepherdess Amanda Owen takes her children to see what will be the start of a huge family adventure – a new farm.

But no one will be leaving Ravenseat Farm, which we have come to know so well, Amanda and husband Clive have bought more land and a derelict farmhouse nearby as an unhurried, long-term project.

It’s a delight to see the rhythms of the seasons unfold in the Dales as the Owen children, for whom every day is a nature lesson, run free and unfettered.

They do have responsibilities though. Sweet eight-year-old Sidney, who wants to be a farmer, is training the family’s new sheepdog puppy, while Reuben (16) leaves Ravenseat to start an apprenticeship as a mechanic. And delightful Clemmy (five) is thrilled to discover a little clutch of kestrel chicks.
