Review

When Netflix documentary Tiger King became a global sensation a year ago, a few people noticed that the series’ antagonist, tiger breeder Joe Exotic, had appeared in Louis Theroux’s 2011 film America’s Most Dangerous Pets.

Now re-investigating Exotic — and his nemesis, animal rights activist Carole Baskin — Theroux digs deeper into how his rampant insecurities led to his downfall. And there’s an interesting meeting with Baskin, who was deluged with death threats after the Netflix show. The recordings she plays for Theroux reveal how toxic it can be when social media creates cult figures and then damns them.
