Review

This ambitious documentary’s final episode reaches the point of the narrative where the world is accustomed to Covid – or more accurately, sick of it. Frustration creates a space for doubters and deniers to have their say, including a wedding singer in Delhi who wonders why he shouldn’t go back to work, and a Louisiana pastor who risks jail by refusing to close his church.

We also visit an indigenous Amazon community that has escaped the virus so far but knows its arrival is inevitable, and an east London charity worker who sees the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on the local Bangladeshi community. Finally, we arrive at the end of 2020, to be reunited with Amie, the doctor we met in episode one. She’s now sick with Covid herself.
