Episode 4: Premature Conker

Summary

Sarah Kendall has set the early pace in the series, but fellow contestants Charlotte Ritchie, Jamali Maddix, Lee Mack and Mike Wozniak still have plenty of time to win points and emerge victorious. Here, Charlotte climbs a ladder with some toilet roll, Mike tries out a new catchphrase and Lee terrifies an innocent member of the public. Alex Horne helps coax the contestants as they attempt to complete Greg Davies' tasks.

Review

There’s nothing out-of-the-ordinary about tonight’s Taskmaster. It has funny moments, it has sweet moments, it has mild humiliations of well-known comic figures. And as ever, it places a smile on your face more often than not.

There’s Charlotte Ritchie’s photograph of herself at Bill Clinton’s inauguration. There’s Lee Mack wrestling with a frozen banana (“The futility of this show is beyond the realm…”). There’s Mike Wozniak falling foul of the small print on a loo-roll task (“That’s it. I’ve boo-booed”). And there’s Greg Davies ribbing them all mercilessly, as if they were mates down the pub and he were their cruel, very funny ringleader.
