Episode 2: The Lure of the Treacle Puppies

Summary

There's discord between contestants Charlotte Ritchie, Jamali Maddix, Lee Mack, Mike Wozniak and Sarah Kendall as rows erupt over facial hair and Jamali's driving skills. Taskmaster Greg Davies is likely pleased that his usual divide-and-conquer tactics are seemingly paying early dividends, as he watches Mike vaulting a high fence, Sarah wearing shoes on her knees, Charlotte grappling with static electricity and Lee struggling to see a balloon and a ghost. As usual, Alex Horne offers the intrepid contenders moral support.

Review

Each episode has a subtitle that types up on screen at the start and makes us wonder how on earth it will feature in the show. Tonight it’s “The Lure of the Treacle Puppies” and don’t you just want to know why?

Finding out involves a task where each of the panel has to create a ghost story based around making the Taskmaster house haunted. MR James can sleep easy, but there are some nicely chilling efforts.

Otherwise, the chemistry is popping nicely. One of the joys of this show is seeing very funny people laughing at each other and they do genuinely seem to be having a blast. Balloons, improvised arguments and Mike Wozniak’s whittled spoon are all there to enjoy.
