Episode 1: It's Not Your Fault

Summary

Greg Davies sets tasks involving the perils of airport security, fashion for insects and the creative application of cling film and gaffer tape to Charlotte Ritchie, Jamali Maddix, Lee Mack, Mike Wozniak and Sarah Kendall. As usual, Alex Horne offers the intrepid contenders moral support, recording the key details as pests are controlled and plates are delivered.

Review

Yes, another series already. It feels as if the last one only just crowned Richard Herring winner (that was December, in fact), but here’s a new cross-section of the comedy elite ready to jump through hoops for Greg Davies and Alex Horne. And a splendid panel it is too, with Lee Mack, Charlotte Ritchie, Sarah Kendall, Jamali Maddix and Mike Wozniak.

Wozniak, who was in Davies’s sitcom Man Down and hosts the wonderful St Elwick’s Neighbourhood Association podcast, might just be the ideal Taskmaster panellist. He manages to be both endearingly inept and very good at the same time, as when he plays a balalaika one handed below a table or rides a hoverboard while carrying a stack of plates.

These are standard Taskmaster assignments, of course, and the other panellists are just as good value. Lee Mack wearing an Evel Knievel jacket, cape and goggles while trying to juggle those plates is the kind of thing you only get on this show. It’s good to have it back.
