Episode 3: The Reckoning

Summary

The documentary moves to Newcastle with the stories of survivors who suffered at the hands of George Ormond, a youth coach connected to Newcastle United - revealing how one former player tried to secretly record a confession from his abuser. Review

The final episode of this wrenchingly sad account of historic sexual abuse by youth coaches is subtitled The Reckoning, but you may feel the football authorities have yet to reckon fully with an issue they would prefer to downplay. Clubs where abuse happened in youth squads have been evasive about what they knew when, and the long-awaited FA inquiry continues to be delayed.

For this final instalment the scene shifts to the North-East, with the story of George Ormond, a coach of youth teams connected to Newcastle United. We witness how one survivor of his regime confronted Ormond years later with a hidden tape recorder, hoping to secretly record a confession.
