Episode 11: The Hunter's Heart

Summary

Morgana finds an ally in powerful warlord Helios and they plot to take over Camelot. However, Arthur and his people are so preoccupied with a visit from the beautiful Princess Mithian, it is left to the returning Gwen to raise the alarm - and her appearance soon reopens old wounds. Sword-and-sorcery drama, starring Colin Morgan, Bradley James, Katie McGrath and Angel Coulby, with Janet Montgomery and Terence Maynard.

Review

What’s this: another ally for moody Morgana? Queen Annis and wizard Alator weren’t up to the mark, and Lord Agravaine seems incapable of delivering a killer blow from within Camelot. So now Morgana teams up with a warlord called Helios (Terence Maynard) to devise a cunning plan.

It sounds familiar, as does the love-triangle subplot in which Arthur’s head is turned by a visiting princess. If there is a quibble with this escapist yarn, and season four in particular, it’s the repetition, as well as a lack of flow. Hermetically sealed episodes were fine 20 years ago, but viewers want continuing storylines now.
