Review

There’s a confession before the opening titles tonight as a man by the name of Emmet Peterson staggers into the police station wearing a blood-spattered top and confesses to killing his boss, a local cosmetics magnate. But as these episodes run for an hour, it’s a safe bet that there must be more to this tale of murder than meets the eye.

Peterson, incidentally, is played by one-time Waking the Dead actor Wil Johnson, who must have welcomed the chance to appear in a BBC crime drama and not be continually yelled at by Trevor Eve.

This is the last episode of the current series and there are some outstanding plot points to potentially tie up in a bow. Will JP really take the new job he’s been offered? And can Neville shake off that British sense of reserve and admit his true feelings for Florence?
