Episode 4: Your Home Made Perfect

Summary

Laura Jane Clark and Robert Jamison create virtual reality redesigns for a spacious Wiltshire home that used to be a hair salon - so is poorly designed for actually living in, with a ground floor that feels like two separate properties, each with its own front door. Laura gives the building a welcoming entrance while making the interior family-friendly and functional, while Robert comes up with an innovative approach that cuts down on the amount of floor space but which could radically alter the way the owners live.

Review

I sometimes wonder what would happen if the couples in Your Home Made Perfect didn’t like either of the virtual reality home-revamping designs they are presented with. Would they choose one just to be polite? Or walk away with a handshake?

In this episode Wiltshire homeowners Rachel and Mike (particularly Rachel) don’t seem mind-blown by the plans presented for their fractured house and its horrible conservatory by either Robert Jamison or Laura Jane Clark.

But maybe they simply aren’t as effusive as other couples, most of whom crumple into tears. Because they do actually choose a design to fit their £40,000 budget and are tremendously enthusiastic. Though some big expanses of glass prove a headache.
