Review

There’s a mixture of new and more well-known comics this week, with fresh faces Sara Barron and Mawaan Rizwan impressing with routines that delve into love, health (both have complex, oddly romantic relationships with the NHS), cringeworthy wedding speeches and much, much more.

It’s a strong showing for both – but for most viewers, the main draw tonight has to be host Ardal O’Hanlon, who regales the audience with some brilliantly funny anecdotes – one, about a taxi driver and his time in Father Ted, is a real highlight – in a warm, masterful performance. It’s still not quite the same as seeing him live, but it’s the next best thing.
