Episode 4: Live at the Apollo

Summary

Darren Harriott hosts the show recorded before a packed house at London's Hammersmith Apollo, warming up the audience and then introducing stand-up performances by Jessica Fostekew and Stephen Bailey.

Review

You’d be forgiven for not having heard of the three acts on show here Darren Harriott, Jessica Fostekew and Stephen Bailey – but at the end of their brilliant sets you’ll be keen to know more.

Harriott hosts and opens the show with the audience firmly in the palm of his hand, cracking jokes about wokeness, the downfall of Mr Men character Mr Tickle and his own struggles with his home town, which has a pay-off too funny to spoil here.

Fostekew follows up with some tried-and-tested material about unemotive Swiss comedy audiences and her parenting struggles, before Stephen Bailey brings the whole night home with some near-the-knuckle, darker material. Ones to watch.
