Episode 2: Bromley

Summary

Events manager Mitch and kitchen designer Elliot recently bagged themselves a bargain home in Bromley, Kent, and wasted no time in gutting the interior. The only problem is, now they have no idea working out where everything should go and how to add style and proportion while sticking to their monochrome design throughout. Enter George Clarke to give them a few tips. The architect also pays a visit to a workshop where bespoke antique mirrors are made. But will he be able to achieve a distressed effect without getting too distressed himself?

Review

There are different architectural styles of houses on every street in the country and many of them are extremely beautiful. But the way houses were laid out in the past doesn’t always work for 21st-century living, which is why we see so many skips outside properties as the owners pull them apart. Mitch and Elliot are a perfect example. They bought a handsome terraced house in Bromley, Kent, and have gutted it completely. They want a monochrome theme but are struggling to come up with stylish interiors that will also be sympathetic to the period exterior. Architect George Clarke has some suggestions to unlock its potential.
