Episode 6: Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show

Summary

The comedy star returns with his annual festive special from the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, London, which promises the same fun as his regular Saturday night show - just with a bit of tinsel and bells on. Chris Kamara will have an embarrassing text message sent in his name in Send to All, soprano Katherine Jenkins provides the music, and a York mum gets a surprise to discover that Michael's been in her house, and he knows all about her. Plus, 22 year-old Paige from Nottingham gets to sing one of the world's best known Christmas hits.

Review

I know people who’d sooner chisel their toes off than watch a Michael McIntyre extravaganza, but in my book this is a smashing format as the comedian jollies his punters at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane out of any audience-participation nerves, which would have me belting for the exit.

Chris Kamara, footballer-turned-Sky-host, gamely hands over his phone in the Send to All section and, says McIntyre, “I actually Facetimed some of his friends from the stage, which was a first.” Katherine Jenkins sings Never Enough from The Greatest Showman, and Paige, a 22-year-old from Nottingham, is the Unexpected Star of the Show. “Her performance is the most Christmassy thing I think I've ever seen!” McIntyre cautions.
