New Gogglesprogs take a seat alongside familiar faces in the second series

Episode 1: Gogglesprogs

The first of a new six-part run in which the nation's younger viewers maintain a close eye on a range of TV output. This series sees the existing army of junior sofa critics supplemented by newcomers Roma, Joel, Jack, Sadie, Declan, Amelinda and Yoanna, who join in to offer their honest, inimitable and ultimately hilarious take on recent shows to hit the small-screen. Items under scrutiny in this opening edition include coverage of the General Election, culinary queen Mary Berry and the classic movie Grease.

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

The return of the Gogglebox spin-off that offers even more of a kick in the teeth to professional TV critics by not just showing amateurs doing a better job, but by employing children to give their effortlessly witty, insightful, humane reactions to a range of telly from the past few months.

Among the new arrivals this year are Birmingham friends Roma (nine) and Joel (11), who both enjoy the music of the Bee Gees and Pink Floyd; three siblings from Wallasey, Merseyside, who will have to stop arguing about football for long enough to concentrate on what they’re watching; and Yoanna (nine), a Manchester musician with a love of politics and current affairs whose best friend Amelinda (ten) has passions for art and gymnastics. As well as up-to-the-minute TV, the Gogglesprogs will also provide a unique take on some classic movies.
