Episode 1: The Andrew Neil Interviews - Theresa May

Summary

The first of a series of programmes in which the broadcaster questions the leaders of the main parties on their policies ahead of next month's General Election, beginning with the Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party.

Review

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

So we know that there are “boy and girl jobs” in Theresa May’s household and that her husband Philip takes the bins out. Which is all well and good and a nice bit of fluff. But what about policies and politics?

In the first of five leader interviews in The One Show slot (a sixth, with Plaid Cymru’s Leanne Wood, will air on BBC1 in Wales on Thursday), Andrew Neil interviews the Prime Minister. How strong and stable will she appear in front of one of television’s most incisive interviewers?

Tomorrow, Ukip’s Paul Nuttall will be in the firing line, then the Lib Dems’ Tim Farron (Wednesday) and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon (Thursday), with Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn on Friday.
