Episode 6: Room 101

Summary

Frank Skinner invites sports presenter Gabby Logan and comedians Richard Ayoade and Alun Cochrane to express their anger over people, events and objects that upset them, as the trio vie to banish their top peeves, annoyances, irritation or worst nightmares consigned to oblivion. Their gripes include people who laugh out loud when reading a book, half-and-half scarves - and fun.

Review

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The best interplay in this edition is between Gabby Logan and Richard Ayoade as she tries to outline certain basic concepts to him about football and he deadpans ignorance.

Her bugbear is half-and-half football scarves that feature both teams in a match, though Frank Skinner manages to establish that she herself has half-and-half children, since one supports Arsenal and the other Spurs.

Otherwise, the gripes range from the very narrow (“Audiences cheering at the mention of the town they reside in”) to the very broad (“Advice”). Ayoade also denounces the whole notion of “fun” – a word, he says “that’s only appropriate for describing a Wham! video”.
