Review

This is such a charming series. Watching the craftsmen and women lovingly renovate treasured objects is, of course, wonderful, but hearing the history of those objects makes it all the more enjoyable. Much like Antiques Roadshow, really.

Later in the week, for instance, the team are presented with a badly repaired violin that spent the Second World War in Auschwitz - saving its owner’s life into the bargain - and a toy steamboat found 50 years ago buried on a Sussex beach but initially mistaken for a bomb.

Today they turn their attentions to a tatty, wheeled elephant, a Georgian desk and a Boulle-work clock.
